Field Sales Representative

Sales representative is responsible to drive sales, direct to customers, of Hampshire Farms live product in retail stores’ garden centers.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Sales agent drives sale of live goods direct to customer at store level
  • Customer service
  • Records inventory
  • Must be available to work weekends
  • Creates and maintains plant displays
  • Replenish inventory as needed
  • Communicates company business via personal cell phone
  • Must follow procedures and policies established by the company and required of the job
  • Must follow safety standards of the job as directed
  • Plant knowledge helpful
  • Experience in sales preferred
  • Access to computer

Working Conditions

  • Heavy lifting up to 50 lbs

Greenhouse – Grower

Hampshire Farms is seeking a quality oriented Grower, a hands on individual that is motivated, forward-thinking that is interested production growing with skills in climate control systems, irrigation, fertility. The individual must be able to learn, communicate and collaborate in a team environment. Compensation based on relevant experience/education and perennial knowledge. The individual’s primary responsibility is to perform all duties related to plant production and produce the highest number of salable plants possible in his or her area of responsibility.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Effective pest and disease control through regular scouting, judicious and appropriate use of pesticides in conjunction with biological control efforts
  • Training and direct supervision of the crew in all procedures and processes related to plant production
  • Environmental control (heating, cooling, venting)
  • Crop stage monitoring
  • Judicious and appropriate use of plant growth regulators
  • Irrigation and fertility
  • Implementation and enforcement of WPS and participation in overall company compliance
  • Implementation and enforcement of general and specific safety policies
  • All other functions related to greenhouse productionGrowers are expected to work a weekend in rotation with other growers. Normally this would be one out of every 4 but may be subject to change given adjustments in staffing levels.Weekend responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
  • General supervision of all crews and/or personnel assigned to work Saturday and Sunday
  • Monitoring all greenhouse systems and equipment for proper operation and response
  • Making spot decisions regarding production/shipping questions, with consultation from the production manager, sales manager or general manager as needed
  • General enforcement of WPS and general safety and company policyEDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS
    Knowledge and/or experience in Horticulture, Botany, Entomology and other plant science training and/or experience in agriculture/horticulture/landscape. Knowledge related to the botany of plant growth and the biology of fungal, mite and insect life cycles. Knowledge of pest and disease control mechanisms is essential. This includes cultural techniques, chemical control and biological control methods.KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS
  • Illinois pesticide applicators license
  • Ability to train and effectively supervise greenhouse workers

Human Resources Coordinator

Hampshire Farms is seeking a motivated, forward-thinking quality oriented new member of our team to provide support to the Human Resources Manager.  The qualified individual will have the opportunity to provide HR support to Hampshire Farms and Mariani Plants while meeting the demands of a high level of engagement and organization. Under the direction of the Human Resources Manager, the Human Resources Coordinator provides all general HR Support including and not limited to Benefits, Recruitment, Labor Relations, New Hire Onboarding, Payroll, Compliance and enforcing company policies and protocol.  This role performs day-to-day human resources functions including record-keeping, file maintenance and overall human resources support for all departments.  

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The essential functions of this position include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Maintains relationships with insurance brokers and carriers and coordinates the annual enrollment process.
  • Participates in group benefits negotiations with carriers to obtain best pricing.
  • Maintain a working knowledge of group health and welfare carrier products.
  • Prepare benefit summaries.
  • Administers employee benefits programs. 
  • Answers benefits-related questions.
  • Ensures accurate and effective benefits enrollments.
  • Process weekly payrolls for both company and agency employees.
  • Communicates personnel and policy changes to employees as needed.
  • Responsible for onboarding including new employee orientation, paperwork, introductions and tours.
  • Prepares and maintains all employee files and documentation, ensuring accurate record-keeping and retention.
  • Creates and maintains employee personnel, benefits, and I-9 files.
  • Assists with the worker’s compensation claims management, issuing and obtaining claim paperwork, collecting statements and return to work activities.
  • Assists with weekly payroll audits.
  • Assists with processing of terminations/releases from work.
  • Files documents into appropriate employee files.
  • Participate in and contribute to Hampshire Farms initiatives.
  • All other functions related to Human Resources.

NON-ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Acts as back up for HR Manager.
  • Bilingual Preferred.

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Associates/2-Year Degree in Human Resources or related filed and/or equivalent experience.
  • Proven experience in related field and administrative functions.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS

  • Administration of Health and Welfare Group Benefits Experience.
  • Remain fully knowledgeable of compliance matters governed by legislation and regulations impacting employer sponsored health and welfare plans such as HIPAA, ERISA, Tax Code Sec 124, PPACA and state sponsored health insurance.
  • Knowledge of personnel/employee relations to include payroll, benefits, wage and salary administration, recruitment and unemployment.

Greenhouse Associates

Hampshire Farms is seeking quality oriented associates to work in the Greenhouse.  Under the supervision of the Production and Operations Manager and Greenhouse Crew Leader, the ideal candidate is a hands on individual who is motivated and forward-thinking.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Potting plants/seedlings
  • Transplanting plants to larger pots
  • Moving plants from one location to another
  • Tagging and applying labels to plants for retail sales
  • Loading plants onto large carts for shipping
  • Working with Greenhouse equipment
  • Placing plants in sleeves
  • Various duties required in a greenhouse setting
  • Job duties will require standing for long periods, bending, stooping, squatting & lifting repeatedly
  • Must be able to work outdoors or in a greenhouse environment during rain, shine, heat or cold
  • Flexible to work overtime as needed; within the shift hours or weekends

FACILITY MAINTENANCE TECHNICIAN

The Facility Maintenance Technician, under the supervision of the Production and Operations Manager performs a variety of skilled work on property which includes but not limited to the Greenhouse. Primary focus is on troubleshooting problems, agricultural mechanics, industrial building maintenance including but not limited to electrical, structural plumbing and equipment repair or replacement. 

  • Performs greenhouse maintenance and repair.
  • Work involves but, not limited to HVAC, electrical (24V, 208V and 480V), plumbing (pumps, wells, irrigation), pneumatics/air systems, motors/VFDs and welding
  • Agricultural equipment diagnostics and repair including, but not limited to conveyors, transplanters, labelers, tractors, and forklifts,
  • Operates equipment including trucks and loaders.
  • Implements preventative maintenance.
  • Practices safety procedures and follows Company and all safety protocols.  Knowledge of occupational hazards and safety precautions.
  • Communicates effectively, both verbally and in writing.
  • Schedule flexibility.
  • Perform other job duties as assigned and complete assigned tasks within established guidelines and time frames.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS

  • Demonstrated knowledge of trades related to industrial or farm maintenance and repair.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of trades related but not limited to HVAC, electrical, plumbing and agricultural equipment repair or replacement.
  • Operational knowledge of power-driven equipment.

WORKING CONDITIONS

  • Work involves moderate to heavy work in all types of weather, outdoors/indoors as needed.

Accountant/Office Manager

Hampshire Farms is seeking a motivated, forward-thinking quality oriented new member of our team to provide support to the Assistant Controller.  The qualified individual will perform two critical roles as Accountant and Office Manager while meeting the demands of a high level of engagement and organization.  Under the direction of the Assistant Controller, the Accountant/Office Manager provides accounting, financial and administrative support by working closely with the Accounting, Merchandising and Production Teams ensuring all Accounting and Administrative deliverables are met.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES – Accounting

The essential functions of this position include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Assist Accounting Manager with month end closing process.
  • Engage in all efforts related to client billings and vendor payments.
  • Responsible for all Accounts Payable functions using our accounting software.
  • Analyze General Ledger accounts to verify proper posting.
  • Check all vendor statements for accuracy within the accounting system.
  • Interact with vendors via phone and email regarding status of accounts.
  • Process weekly check runs.
  • Prepare various financial analysis spreadsheets by collecting and analyzing account information.
  • Preparation of various balance sheet account reconciliations.
  • Administer Company Credit Card Program.
  • Administer Company Vehicle Fleet.
  • Other projects and duties as assigned.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES – Office Manager

The essential functions of this position include, but are not limited to the following:

  • General office administration duties including answering phones, receive/distribute mail, ordering office and operating supplies.
  • Ensure all office equipment is in working condition.
  • Order business cards
  • Manage vending machine.
  • Manage petty cash.
  • Oversee office cleanliness.
  • Arrange workspace for new hires.
  • Back-up for IT problems and issues.
  • Issuing of Company equipment, ie: phones, computers, laptops, etc.
  • Other projects and duties as assigned.

NON-ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
